    Ian,

Quick question - a general one about ‘Extending Media’. I have two Windows Media Center PC’s and was wondering if one of them could act like a Media Center Extender?

If not, can I at least share the media from one device to the other - i.e record EastEnders and then retrieve it upstairs on my second WMC box?

And while on the subject - any other tricks you can suggest, if you’ve got two devices to play with? For example, is there a way I can pause EastEnders mid show - then run upstairs and continue the viewing experience on the second Windows Media Center device?

    Questions Questions Questions

No there is no software Media Center Extender, although I believe one has been developed by Microsoft it’s not out yet or maybe never.
But you can share recording between two PC’s. There are a couple of ways of doing this. The simple way is download this program from the Green Button web site
    http://www.thegreenbutton.com/file.aspx?softwareId=15
It enables you to share recorded TV between two pc’s

Also doing forget to install Orb (www.orb.com) so you can watch recorded TV from any internet connected device

    Hope this helps

    Hey Ian,

That’s very helpful indeed sir. What a dilemma I have, stuck with just two Media Center units :-)

Seriously, I’m putting together a piece for The Gadget Show - not specifically on Media Center, but ‘Smart Home’ technology (basically the stuff I did for Grand Designs Live).

    Thanks for the tip off.

    Jason
